Position Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Milan. The role ensures accuracy and compliance across the full accounting cycle, with a strong focus on VAT, SDI electronic invoicing, and Italian statutory requirements. You will be responsible for preparing monthly closings, supporting tax filings, and providing reporting to both local management and Group entities.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll postings, bank reconciliations, and cash handling.
Oversee VAT compliance, including split payment, reverse charge, intent declarations, and the preparation of monthly, quarterly (LIPE), and annual VAT returns.
Handle electronic invoicing (SDI), including XML imports/exports, resolution of rejected invoices, and compliance with Italian regulation requirements.
Prepare monthly closings, trial balance, balance sheet reconciliations, and adjusting entries such as accruals, deferrals, amortizations, and inventory.
Ensure accurate statutory reporting, including tourist tax declarations, Intrastat, and fiscal filings in coordination with external consultants.
Support preparation of annual statutory financial statements and assist auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end certification.
Provide timely and accurate reporting to Group Finance HQ including ad-hoc analysis and consolidation support.
Liaise with banks, suppliers, tax advisors, and authorities, ensuring compliance with payments, withholding taxes, and corporate obligations.
Address technical or operational issues with accounting systems, ensuring data integrity and supporting continuous process improvement.
Provide operational and tax-related support to internal departments (e.g., correct VAT codes, revenue recognition, SIAE permits for events), acting as a key finance business partner
Skills:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in structured environments or the hospitality sector
Solid knowledge of Italian GAAP and VAT regulations
Strong familiarity with e-invoicing and the SDI system
Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and deadline orientation
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Language Requirements:
Fluency in Italian is essential; strong English skills are also required
